Sarah Berkman is a Community Herbalist focusing on holistic reproductive health, she is a a full-spectrum doula, and a teacher/student of ancestral and primitive skills. She spends her time gardening, supporting people through all pregnancy related experiences, weaving, and preparing medicine for people in her community. All of her herbal adventures are accompanied by her sidekick, and budding herbalist aka daughter, Luna.

Having grown up in New England, Sarah carries with her the energy of the sea and the influence of her Italian grandmothers and heritage. She has been enchanted by the plant world since childhood and it is from the deepest place in her heart that she does this work.

Sarah apprenticed with Herbalist and Aromatherapist, Kathi Keville focusing on traditional western herbalism and plants of the Sierra Nevadas as well as Clinical Aromatherapy. She attended The California School Of Herbal Studies in Forestville , CA  where she completed a training in. Clinical Herbalism  and studying the art of medicine making and formulation, materia medica, herbal energetics, pulse and tongue assessment, first aid, ayurveda, and body systems.

Sarah has taught many classes on the subject of herbal medicine, holistic reproductive health, natural self-care, medicine making, primitive skills and more. She continues to build experience working with the people in her community. Currently, she is working towards AHG professional membership.

Sarah’s work as a full-spectrum doula has inspired her focus on all things related to reproductive and children’s health. She is DONA certified labor and postpartum doula, and is currently working on certification through Birth Arts International to be a Childbirth Educator.

She has had success in working with a variety of  conditions including, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, PCOS, endometriosis, PPD, pregnancy discomforts, infertility and more.

With the state of our current health care system and the methods of “healing” that have become popularized and mainstreamed, Sarah looks to the plants and strives to help reclaim once common knowledge of natural self care within our communities.
